Pointless Games

It’s 11:30, which means there’s a half hour to spare before E3 begins!

I will begin the stream now, playing some music and hanging out until things begin, allowing you all time to get your bingo cards, pop some popcorn, and settle in! Once the conference begins, I will get things switched over and start us on our way to some conference riffing greatness, as long as Gamespot’s stream holds up.

After Microsoft’s conference, the schedule will be:
• Electronic Arts (EA): 2:35 Pre-Show - 3:00 Conference
• Ubisoft: 5:30 Pre-Show - 6:00 Conference
• Sony: 8:30 Pre-Show - 9:00 ConferenceNintendo will have their E3 Direct at 12pm tomorrow.

Click either here or the picture above to go to the stream!

All times are in EDT, use World Time Buddy to convert to your local time.

yotomoe asked: Is it going to be several co-commentators?

Planning on just one co-commentator per press conference so we don’t end up stepping on each others’ toes while commentating, and I’m hoping for a different co-commentator for each conference to keep the commentary fresh.

E3 is approaching, and watching the press conferences is one of my favorite things to do every year. Seeing the major forces in the industry either debut new games/hardware, show more features of announced games, or make fools of themselves by announcing terrible things that nobody wants, it’s always an interesting event.

But the one thing that can always make press conferences better is a good helping of commentary. ABadFeeling used to have big Mumble meetings during E3 and it was hilarious to listen to. Unfortunately they haven’t for a couple years now, so I’ve generally just sat and yelled at my screen alone.

This is where I had an idea, why not stream while I scream at my screen? (Tongue twister unintended.) And then I realized it’d be far better with a friend! So, I will be holding applications for co-commentators for each press conference. If you would like to apply, please send me an ask or note with the following information:

• Preferred name for display on-stream
• Twitter account - not required but recommended
• Times available today
• Preferred conferences (Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, Sony, or Nintendo)

When I review the information, I’ll let the applicants know whether they’ve been accepted or not, then an hour or so before the conferences start (Microsoft’s starts at 9:30 PDT/12:30 EDT, pre-show at 9 PDT/12 EDT), I will announce the list of co-commentators and begin to set up the stream.

I apologize for the long-winded post, but I’m rather excited to get this going - and honestly should’ve got this organized sooner - but hopefully the first RietPlaysGames E3 Conference Commentary Stream will be a fun time, and I hope to see you all there!

Updated my stream’s backdrop for when I’m between games/taking a break. Might end up using it later tonight!
